I don't believe that people who do this don't go to heaven. Another mans tell. I have a few friends whose child did this and I cannot imagine those children not getting to heaven. I believe, us as humans do not know what exactly made these people do this. I dont know how low their life got and they thought there was no where of turning. Yes, we are broken because of it. But we would be the same if that person died suddenly of a sickness or car crash. The love doesn't change just the type death. I am sorry if I seem like I am rambling, but people make me mad telling others about what happens to suicides.

Dear vader, i wish i could come up with the answers to take away your pain, but one thing to keep in mind is we are only human, and that none of us truly know the answers to the questions you pose. I would not take what your minister says to heart, because even the church is divided over suicide. For example, Judas commited a great many sins during his life, and he finally hung himself. He will burn, yes, but not for suicide, certainly. Just do some research on that topic and the topic of suicide from the church's perspective and from the survivors, and maybe that will bring some clarification. Theres a book called "Dying to be Free" A Healing Guide for Families after a Suicide. I'm reading it now. There is also a support group called Families & Friends Affected by Suicide. As far as going to hell I don't believe that just because someone commits suicide means they can't go to heaven. My husband killed himself in Nov. 2008 and I believe he is in heaven.

to all thank you for your replies.This was a very hard subject for me to write.I have never gotten over tommys death..and this is what has crushed me..remember in 1970...things were not as open and tommy wasnt buried in the Catholic Church..Tommy is buried in a unmarked grave in North Carolina...they still cant afford the head stone.bye all.I am crying .Vader.

There is not one single instance where THE BIBLE says that people who commit suicide will go to hell.

Jesus said, "many will come in my name who are not from me."

God loves us all unconditionally.
Suicide is not a selfish act. It is a result of lots of emotional distress building up in one person and that person feeling unable to let his feelings be heard and distant from everyone and afraid of the future, engulfed by negative past experiences, losses, hurt..
There is no way that someone would want to kill himself for any sake. It is a very hard thing to deal with when it hits people personally. Don't be hard, feel guilty about it. It is neither his nor your fault.

Your minister is wrong. Our son took his own life 3 wks ago. and he was taking Zoloft while dealing with his marital problems. We are devastated but as Christians we know we will see Brandon again. This action was not something he would have done. We will have all the answers when the toxicology report comes back. But right before Christmas we knew another person who took her own life---without warning...just out of the blue...while on Zoloft. For as much good as that drug may do for some...for others it is a death sentence....read the label...the fine print....the side effects are not worth the risk. I wish we had know more about it before this. Your loved on is not in hell, especially if they were dealing with mental illness, etc....the real hell for that person was on this earth. I pray for peace for you and know that we will see our loved one in HEAVEN. Praise our loving God.

For a long time after my father's suicide, I was very angry at him. I only recently found out that he was clinicly depressed and the medication actually made him worse so he took his own life. As for heaven or hell, I finally realized that since I couldnt control where he had gone, all I can do is forgive him myself, and try not to blame myself for his death. I hope you can find comfort in your grief.

What does the Bible say about a Christian who commits suicide? What it does not say is that a Christian who commits suicide will lose salvation and go to hell. The Bible teaches that from the moment a person truly believes in Christ, he or she is eternally secure (John 3:16). According to the Bible, Christians can know beyond any doubt that they possess eternal life no matter what happens. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life, and that you may continue to believe in the name of the Son of God (1 John 5:13). Nothing can separate a Christian from Gods love! For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 8:38-39). If no created thing can separate a Christian from Gods love, and even a Christian who commits suicide is a created thing, then not even suicide can separate him from Gods love. Jesus died for all of our sins, and if a true Christian were to, in a time of spiritual attack and weakness, commit suicide, that would be a sin that Jesus died for.

To all who have replied.I feel so much better.Because lately suicide is being axed by the televangelists but there isnt no where where you committ suicide that you do go to Hades or such and this isnt the right thing to say to anyone.Tommy had a very troubled life.That is all i knew.Frank knew the whole story..but he never talked about it..and this is my advice--men can you do us a ladies a favor? Can you tell us what is wrong? I mean how are we suppose to know? We arent like the Amazing Kreskin..we cant read minds..and remember we are here for you and such..but you must tell us so we can make the arrangements to get help and go to these meetings..dont not shut us out? Your friend would have been buried in the Catholic Church these days. The theology, as far as I understand it is that suicide is a sin. It is what the church calls a mortal sin in that it breaks the relationship with God. In fact, it falls under the sin of despair.

But as the understanding of the human mind has increased, or rather as we've realised how little we know, the Church has now realised that someone who has committed suicide was mentally ill and that God does not judge illness. Also, that person could have reconciled with God in the last seconds of their life and felt remorse for their actions as they were dying.

The big thing to remember, Vader, is that God loves each of us very, very much. Like a parent loves their child but a million, million times more. Only God knows the faith in our hearts. Only God can judge.

I don't believe that your friend is in Hell. I believe he has gone to a happy place where his suffering is at an end. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed rest in peace.

once again thanks to al who have replied.In fact,i did meet someone today who I went to school with.They are here on vacation,but she didnt like seattle cause now it is our rainy season and it sure it cold.She much to my surprize knew Tommy.He was in her 5th grade class and she didnt even know about his death.She just assumed that he left the town and got married.Yes..I do believe that Tommy is in Heaven and he it watching me.
