I'm new here so I'll explain my situation as briefly as I can. My Mother died Feb/16 two months prior to my husband finding out he had brain cancer. He died a week before Christmas the same year. We had a business which I sold then the buyers backed out last minute. I lost everything...my Mom, my husband, my job then I had to sell the family cottage (had been going there my whole life). It has been 3 years and I have been dealing with both estates and trying to close the business. We had it for 33 years and it was important to me to pay everyone off because my husband was a man of integrity. I am now just starting to truly grieve. I thought I already had; everyone kept telling me how well I was handling things and how life goes on...how I will find happiness again...blah, blah, blah. I'm mentally exhausted and because it's been 3 years, no one "gets" it. Perhaps I'm leaning on friends too much because they aren't calling as often. Has anyone here had a delayed grieving period? I don't know how to get out of this blue funk I'm in...I'm deperately trying to figure things out but have decided I should join a support group so I don't have to do it alone....thanks for any suggestions....

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

I would join a RL group for people who have lost their life partners.... You could google this in your area
We have a good Widows and Widowers group on here.... People on it are in different stages of grieving... I will put up a link for you..... Another hug and a blessing....xo

Inside my strictly personals, estate closings and grieving remain two separate kettles of fish. My FIL died in Oct 2016 and we are still dealing with the gory details of his complicated estate. I had a healthy respect for the man, but we our emotional bonds were negligible. I was calling him by his surname when he passed. The harder he pushed for me to call him, "Dad," the further I nudged away. He died without a clue of what "Dad" meant to this incest survivor.
My son and his wife died September 21, 2019, leaving my husband and I with their 3 children (6, 3 and 9 months at the time of death). Those children were all there was to his estate, but I believe it just may be the far, far more complex estate. Money is just dirty paper. With the distraction of launching my second parenting career, I am more than a bit worried that Hubs and I are going to find ourselves falling into that delayed grieving pit. We've been trying to stay mindful of our need to grieve, but 3 kids are ALLOT of distraction.
Hope I'm not co-opting your thread with my own troubles. I mostly wanted to welcome you to DS and ? ? ? empathize as best I can? ? ? Rock you gently and cry with you.
Welcome aboard.
