Just thought I would join this group now that I am a widower. My wife passed away May 28th. She was "The Wind Beneath My Wings". When I met her, I was a drunken, dope smoking, fighting, hell raising biker. She told me if I could get rid of the inner storm within me, that I could be a blessing to people. God placed her in my path to stop me. I have been drug and alcohol free now for 53...

Hello everyone, I haven't been online in a while, but I just feel that I need to vent tonight with someone I've been in a relationship with a guy since 2013 and everything was fine when we first got together, but it's like the last four years things has been kind of rocky. We were going to get married once we went for the license and everything but the six months expired so we never got married...
I am very sorry for your loss. Please stay strong.
Alcohol and money are the root of all evil.
Three of my son's friends were killed in a car accident last summer due to alcohol. They were all in college and had a lot to look forward to. Their lives were robbed because of a foolish choice to get behind the wheel of a car after spending an afternoon "binge drinking."
There are no words.
Take care,
Mish
I am terribly sorry for your loss of Brad. I am also sorry that you found him. this had to be very traumatic for you. I know you have had your ups and downs and you and I have discussed these before.
My heart goes out to you and all those affected by Brad's passing. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
May God give you peace and comfort in the days ahead. If I can help, give me a shout.

alcohol kills, that's all there is too it.
i'm sorry, but i couldn't read your full post - i just can't do the all-capital letters things. nothing personal, maybe it's my over-40 eyes.

It was many years ago.
Over time, I have come not to blame the drugs, or the alcohol-- though I have some idea how you must feel-- and most importantly, not blame myself.
Yes, I wish alcohol, tobacco, and most drugs never existed. But what happened WAS... NOT... your fault, IMHO.
I beat myself up for years wondering if I could have saved Dan or Liz... wondering if I shouldn't have said this or should have done that. Several years later, another friend threatened suicide... but that time, for whatever reason-- maybe I had learned to be a better friend, maybe it was something else-- he did not kill himself.
He died of cancer just over a year ago. He was my best friend. That's why I'm here. But those 15 years he had after the threatened suicide? They were the greatest.
Do not sentence yourself to seven times punishment. I respect your beliefs, but perhaps seeing Him in that way is not the best way to do His will. That kind of vengeance, I don't think it is meant for you, you seem like a kind person, though I do not know you, please forgive me if I seem presumptuous. Someday, you may find a way to help someone else when they are in their hour of need.
Be patient with yourself, you will think all kinds of things over the coming days and weeks. What it means, it does not come to us all at once, and there is much we will never know. We cannot win all these battles... but, over time, we can win some.
In peace and faith,
Catalyzt
