Hello everyone, I haven't been online in a while, but I just feel that I need to vent tonight with someone I've been in a relationship with a guy since 2013 and everything was fine when we first got together, but it's like the last four years things has been kind of rocky. We were going to get married once we went for the license and everything but the six months expired so we never got married but right now I'm feeling like I want to separate from him and then I don't wanna separate from him, but I know that I really do need to do better for myself. He has a drinking problem. Our sex life is not good at all it's like we haven't did anything in like three months and when he's around me, he don't touch me don't you know we rarely talk we rarely watch TV together. He has his own place now or should I say a room? It's not apartment just a room that he has. He had his all his paperwork at my house because you know he just recently got his place and he took the policy that he had out of my house without me knowing it and I don't know I just want advice on what I should do thank you.

Now that I am not talking to my whatever best friend, I realized that her life is full of drama. I had grown tired of hearing her stories about her boyfriend many months ago. She basically had been monopolizing conversations for that long too. She pretty much stopped asking me questions about me. I passed her in front of her classroom the other day and didn't even look at her. I am...

I'm sorry that you're going through a painful time
When you write he has a drinking problem
Is he an alcoholuc?
My now deceased husband was and I know it's very painful to be around
I left finally and he never did quit
It only got worse
Would he be willing to go for some therapy with you?
From what you're writing it doesn't read like there is a lot to save unless he's willing to invest in making some changes
You can heal...Perhaps get into some therapy for yourself to help you to heal and move forward
Another hug and a blessing...xo
An alcohol problem or binge drinking is an addiction. I went to Al Anon for the alcoholic I divorced 2009 and it helped me understand my thinking and part.
We didn't cause it, we can't control it, and we can't cure it. Write this out and realize the truth of it. Nothing you can do will change him, make him stop drinking, make him want to get married, make him be a good guy.
You guys are not married right? So I would say pack up his stuff and let him go. Change your locks. Do not offer him sex nor give him money nor pay his bills.
I do not want to sound mean but he is choosing the life he wants. Go to Al Anon and get some support.
I don't know what policy he took with him but get your own insurance or call the company and get a copy of the insurance policy if it is in your name.
Unfortunately he has changed. You can beg him to come back, put up with the "drinking problem" alcoholism and be long suffering. Or you can see this as your freedom from the "drinking problem" and get on with your life.
People do change. I got more mature, stronger, and wiser and no longer wanted that life with the alcoholic which was not great.
From my perspective, this is really a good thing for you. Try not to see this as rejection but rather your freedom. Change your locks, pack up his stuff in your home and put outside the door so he can get it. Then start going to Al Alon or Families Anonymous and do things that make you recognize your value and worth. Right now the whole focus of your life is his problems and his alcoholism.
You deserve better. Love is not enough.
