Hi, all: Glad to have found this site and this support group. My wife recently died..(July 26, 2017), of bile duct cancer, it was very quick and very overwhelming, she was diagnosed in mid-June and I watched her die on July 26.To say the whole experience was shocking would be an understatement, I myself am usually a fairly strong and independent person, although this has tested me severely.I was totally alone with her through this ordeal, her daughters are estranged from her, and my family is not close. Her one daughter traveled 7 hours just to be by my side in the last 2 days, which I am totally grateful to her for doing that. After I got to the hospital which was for myself a 2 hour traveling time, she only lasted another 36 hours, so it was not a drawn out suffering and death like so many other cancer patients have the misfortune to endure.
This form of cancer is not common, her Mother and Uncle died of liver cancer, so it is familial in nature, to some extent, genetically passed on potentially.Words alone cannot describe this life experience, the research I have done describes the loss of one's spouse as THE most tragic and life changing death one will encounter...more than your Mother, Father, Sister, Brother, etc. This person fills so many facets of your life....lover, confidant, advisor, friend, life partner, travel companion,etc..etc.I have read many other posts on here from other people going thru the potential loss of a loved one, or from a loss that has already occurred, and you have my total sympathy, empathy, and support. Take things slow, and look after yourself, and grieve on your own schedule, not everyone feels the loss the same way.
If it helps anyone out there, I have always looked upon life as a roadtrip...a lot of the trip is great and smooth pavement...we drive along without a care just seizing the fresh air and scenery, we encounter minor detours and rough pavement but continue on.Then we encounter a major fork in the road....a detour beyond our wildest nightmare, something that has the potential to not only damage our vehicle but test our mettle, and if we are really unlucky we get into a terrible accident. This is what it has felt like to me...a major accident that I have encountered on the road of life...unexpected and without warning. However I have found we are not alone on this highway..there are vast amounts of other people that will not only help us recover, but have actually gone thru the same misfortune and can offer vast amounts of advice and support to attempt to get us back on the road of life.I find support forums like this are comprised of such people who come from all age groups, diverse experiences, and just need the opportunity to talk about such suffering.I will surely be talking to anyone that can help me...and will reciprocate any way I can for anyone else.I think we just all need one another to help us get thru this trying time.

Here is my new brother, copper :) He's so tiny! Moo and Tuck were ok with him on first meeting. Rocket due to his severe aggression will never meet Cooper.

I really like your description of life.... There's a really great book/novel called The Shack that might benefit you if you haven't read it..... It gave me hope even though it's a novel
We have a really great board on here called Widows and Widowers.... People on there are in different stages of healing
I'll put up a link to it.... It's busier than this board but I'm glad that you're here
Big hug and a blessing.....xo
