On June 25th 2017 a policeman knocked on my door at 3 am. He told me to "sit down" and then explained that my 19 year old daughter was killed when she crashed her car. My world has collapsed and its hard to even breathe. I have a younger child who is devastated and she is the only reason I am getting up every morning and putting on a brave face. I am a single mother so I had to go back to work but everything is getting harder not easier. While EVERYONE came to her memorial- none of my extended family have called to check on me in almost 2 weeks- in fact, I feel like I have leprosy.

Once again I've had a fever today. I'm not going to the hospital because that's a huge waste of time but I did schedule a dr appointment for Wednesday afternoon.

Now is the time to seek for professional help, and especially do so right away, for the sake of both you and your young child's mental and emotional welfare, please seek counseling through a doctor or one who's a skilled bereavement/grief therapist. Feelings are very overwhelmed at such tragic conditions. And sometimes even family members are unprepared to cope during crisis, or possibly some know nothing of how to approach you with actions of sufficient support. Yet, as they were centered around you and your family during the memorial, it may well be that others will return to help right away. Perhaps, at this point, you should make the first step and invite others in for their active love and trusted support. There is no acceptable reason for others to stay at a distance or avoid you; it's most likely that they are waiting for you to reach-out to them. You deserve to have plenty of care in order to prepare for the challenging days ahead. Again, I am saddened by what's going on now and I deeply hope that this transition in life will be gently processed through much of your faith in God. You and your daughters are in God's loving hands now. Bless you and I embrace you in my heart with a christlike love.
I'm leaving you with a link in which you may further read of grief and suggestions of emotional health:

And there are many written books dealing with parental grief, which I recommend that you search online or in your local bookstore. I found one that may interest you: "Closure: The Rush to End Grief and What it Costs Us by Nancy Berns"
