My heart is breaking. My cat Ruby was hit by a van 2 days ago. I loved her so much she was my everything. People will say it's just a pet but she was my everything. I have never felt grief like this. I can't eat , sleep or stop crying. Growing up in a family without love and living in hostels and being homeless I never felt love. Ruby gave me that love but now she's gone and I'm all alone. I feel like life isn't worth living anymore

So sorry for your loss. I hope that acceptance comes to you soon. Many others with their own losses might be grieving around you. Find them and comfort each other. Visit with the sick, old, and infirm, and try to bring them some joy out of your pain. Speaking from personal experience, I think that your grief will diminish as your world expands. Peace to you, my friend.

I learned in the grief group I’ve been going to for the last two years to “take it one day at a time.” When coping is too much we were taught to “just do the next thing.” The next thing could be drinking a glass of water, getting out of bed, or eating something. Sending you a big hug

I was just thinking of my cat that I lost in January of 2021. I was never so sad about the loss of a pet. I cried and cried. I am so sorry about your Ruby. It took me many months but I put the word out that I was ready for another kitty and then I got a picture of a little part Siamese kitten that needed a home. He is 4 now and I love him dearly. Ruby will be watching you from Heaven and you will see her again.

My heart goes out to you...loosing unconditional love to me, is so painful. My Beloved Chachi, 3 months shy of her 20th birthday died in my arms, I was Blessed to be able to do this for her. Like you, I felt the loss so deeply, it was different from family death, but just as bad. I'm sorry you've had such a troubled life, God Willing you will find peace, tiny steps, like Melt2020 wrote...just try to drink water...that is Huge. You are So Strong and Loving...I hope the same strength and love will find it's way into your life <3

I am really sorry about this. A sudden death of a loved pet is hard. I had a wild cat once that would not stay in the house and also ended up killed outside. Terrible Terrible. I felt both extreme sorrow and guilt. I am sorry about your Ruby and know she loved you also. Her soul is still around you and you can talk out loud to her (in private). Remember how special she was to you and know the love you two shared.

It's been some time since my last post...sorry. I've been going through a challenging time with the sale of my home, purchase of a condo and my adult asperger son that lives with me. I've had days where I couldn't get out of bed, days where I stayed in my pj's and days where all I managed to do was eat, drink fluids and take care of my Sweet Mia kitty. Sweet Mia came to me from a shelter about...
