Hello all,
About three years ago I lost my best friend. Noveber 12, 2013 is when she passed. It seems that every year after her passing I get very sad and can't control my emotions. It feels like depression but I know I miss my friend so much. What sucks is that we didn't even get to say goodbye. She was one of the people who understood me when I was going through my regular depression. She was like an angel. Yes we did use to get into arguments but she was the only perosn who understood that I had mental health issues as did she. We connected because we hated how we felt due to our depression and anxiety. Man I can't even explain how much it hurts.
Then last year on January 2nd, I my brother-in-law took his life. It was so hard for me to see my nieces and nephews go through so much pain. I cried for them. I don't even know how they can manage and I break down at the lost of my best friend while they lost their dad.
Now my mom has been sad because she lost an uncle and a cousin three days apart. The day after the Cubs won the World Serious, my mom's uncle was killed in a hit and run accident. Took us all by surprise. As for my cousin, she was battling cancer in different parts of her body. It seems like people just keep dying and it does bring me donw.
I fience has also had recent losses that affect me as well. He lost his cousin and a good friend to a shouting in the last two years. His Grandfatehr also passedd away.
It's been so hard for me to make friends and push through this. I hate depression and Bereavement look so much a like that I cannot tell what I am going through.
I just need support and someone to talk to to help me pass through this muck I am in.

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...
Depression can be caused by many things; for you it is totally understandable how bereavement brings on depression. The bad news is that since bereavement is a life experience rather than a brain chemistry thing, medication may not work. It may help you through difficult times, but the real solution (in my personal non professional medical person status opinion) lies in coming to terms with all this loss.
Some people like to think of bereavement as a series of stages that one navigates through. I don't like that because it made me think that I only got one chance to resolve a stage before I entered the next one. I like to think of bereavement is a set of emotions that we need to learn how to deal with. In that context, it helped me understand that if I "regress" back into an emotion I thought I had resolved it just meant that mostly there were new triggers for those emotions that I either did not understand, or did not have time to deal with when I first dealt with that emotion.
Yes, there will be a repeat of the emotions (or stages if that language works better for you) of grief. And that is totally normal. Especially in the case of multiple losses. For example you may have dealt with the anger over the loss of your friend, only to find that the anger of losing your brother in law made you angry again over losing your friend.
Not everybody is going to understand your losses; even if they have suffered similar losses (in the same short time period) they are not you, and can't get into your head to know what you are really feeling.
As for me, I lost my sister (5 years ago) mother (2 years ago) and father (1 year ago) all in August. I was born in August, and my parents were married in August. Losing my entire birth family is another loss all in itself, and few (if any) of my family or friends really understands that.
Don't be afraid to lean on the family and friends you have, but know that they all have their limits for how much support they can give you. I have had to learn not to "over lean" on people because it makes them angry and can drive them away.
It may even help to have a friend who only helps you by diverting your attention from your losses. Perhaps the person you go shopping with, or what ever. This type of friend can provide you with a vacation from grief.
Sorry to go on and on,
Gentle hugs, and welcome to the group.
Pepper and I have both lost the many family members so we hear you and it's painful.
Certain times more painful then others...I always find Christmas difficult now so I try and focus on the true meaning that I believe
If you have a faith a religious leaders may be able to help council you..
if the depression continues over time and you aren't able start to have times without depression I, would see your doctor
The stages,of grief can be different for,everyone...people don't necessarily go through all of,them and sometimes people can get stuck in one stage
It just plain hurts sometimes....xo
