My son gave me a dog for Christmas, but I don't have him yet. I can pick one out at the local pound. We have two cats (my granddaughters) but they have trouble with English. At least a dog can learn "sit", "roll-over", "fetch", etc. Does having a pet help after losing someone? I live in a Townhouse, with a small patio area for a back yard. What is a good indoor dog? I don't want a yappy dog that barks every time someone rings the doorbell.

yes having pets help my two terriers are my babies after my dad died they tried to comfort me in thier own way i would recommend a yorkie or a spaniel for you

I'll add to what everyone else has said. I bought a seven-week old puppy three weeks after my son died. It was a stupid, impulsive thing I did one evening and it was the best thing for me. Having something to look after and to care for was what I needed. We ended up with two dogs. The puppy grew into a hyper sort of dog but the mutt we got at the pound to keep her company is just a doll. Good luck.

My dad taught me a trick if you get a yappy one. he uses a water pistol to sqirt the dog when the bark. It only gets them wet and they learn to recognize the shaking sound of the water quickly so that you don't have to keep sqirting them forever.

My 6mo twin DD's are EBF and just started rice cereal on the first. Everything has been going fine except this morning one of them had a diaper rash (lots of redness around her anus). I read this as one of the signs of an allergy. BUT I did just buy a different brand diaper yesterday (which they have used randomly before w/no issues). Do you think its the cereal or the diaper?
