Do you wear diapers? Normally that should solve that issue! If not you could bring your own plastic bed sheet?

Don't you have your own rubber sheet? If you can't take many diapers in your luggage, buy them when you arrive in America. Dispose your soiled diapers in public trash cans.

If you protect the mattress as said above (rubber sheet + diapers), you don't have to tell the world of your problem.

Yeah, if you're uncomfotable disposing soiled diapers in your room im sure they have a big bin at the back!

Thankyou for replying. Yes, I do wear diapers to bed every night with booster pad and plastic pants and they are reliable, and at home we have waterproof bedding in case of any leaks, but my wetting at the moment is particularly bad both day and night and I’m worried of an accident in the hotel.
I don’t know if it’s worth mentioning it to the hotel when my girlfriend books it if they can put a mattress protector or waterproof bedding if they have it? Has anyone else made that request and can they do that?

Sorry I have never made that request. My mother made that when I was going to school camp but it was 20 years ago :)
I don't really understand why you can't protect mattresses on your own. It's a million times easier than asking each hotel. I never mentioned my bedwetting issues, always used my rubber sheet + one towel over the sheets. I've never ruined a mattress even if I'm a heavy wetter.

Concerning your transatlantic flight, you should wear at least absorbent pants during the flight.

I travel for a living and have never said anything to the hotels. I use disposable diapers at night, and very rarely have a leak and if I do I just strip the bed and throw the sheets next to the door, if your staying multiple nights they will change the sheets. In the morning I throw out my diaper in the trash can in the room and tie the bag up and no one has ever said anything. I always leave a five-ten (if I leak or not) dollar tip on the desk.

Don’t make a big deal about, trust me the hotels have seen a lot of stuff in the rooms. People trashing them or drunk people throwing up, pissing or even taken a crap all over the room and even kids or adults have pissed the bed all the time. Some of the stories I’ve heard would make you cringe so they have NO issue and appreciate that your using protection for bedwetting.

Main thing is don’t sweat it and have fun on your vacation and don’t worry the small stuff like wetting the bed

Oh if you want when you get here in the states stop at a store and get some goodnights pads. I don’t use the peel and stick things but when I use them I just put the under the sheet (cause there ruff to sleep directly on top of) to catch any leak from making it to the mattress. I don’t do the peel and stick on them cause there hard to get off the bed but under the sheet the stay put with me.

Thanks guys for taking the time to reply, and I think your probably all right. I mentioned my worries to my girlfriend and she just assumed the same as you and said she was going to pack some bed pads to take and reminded me I haven’t leaked wearing diapers in bed for a long time and told me to try not to worry about it. She said she would contact the hotels if I’m that worried to see if they have anything to protect the mattress if I wish but as one of you has traveling experience with this I guess I’ll make use of the bed pads we bring. I think where Kate tends to book quite nice hotels and that I have such little control at the moment it’s making me a lot more anxious than usual.
For the flight, I know I have to wear a diaper, there’s no way I could get away without one, certainly not at the moment.

I use the goodnites bedmats. They pack in a case easily and protect the sheet in case of an accident.

I remember a raft of posts on this topic - on Adult Bedwetting site I think? Air travel is fairly easy; security staff are well used to folk wearing pads and pants; wearing a collection bag system can be more tricky. Availability of diapers in USA seems wonderful: all stores seem to have an "Incontinence" aisle; [I notice Boots in UK now have "sensitive bladder" aisles].. Both methods work in most hotels: asking for bed protection and disposal and "self-service". Many large chains have ALL beds protected, and if you once ask for protection many mark it on their system for your next booking, and protect the bed automatically.

PS. A UK " RADAR Holidays for People with Disabilities" [UK/Abroad] guide-book indicated for each hotel: "Incontinence Accepted" and "Rubber Sheets Available", Users of the book found it an enormous relief when their problem was upfront and out in the open ahead of arrival.
They could book with confidence and without being ashamed of their condition,

Thanks for the tip Lisa, I may try and order some to see how they are. I used to use Tena Bed disposeables which had wings to fold under the mattress to hold them in place which were fine when I was living alone but no good when I moved in with my girlfriend as I couldn’t keep them in place. I did try taping them down once which was perfect until I tried to remove them and the glue from the tape ruined her bedding - she wasn’t best pleased. I then used a Kylie bed pad which was reliable until Kate bought this thick quilted and absorbent plastic backed mattress protector which feels luxurious after so many years sleeping on pads and makes the bed look normal. But it’s not feaseable taking that so smaller pads may have to do and it’s nice to try ones that have been recommended.

I’ve flown a few times since I’ve been with Kate, each time wearing a diaper, but I do find going through security stressful and try to make sure I remove anything that could set of the detector to avoid being patted down. We’ll be in America for 3 weeks so we”ll be looking to buy things I need when we’re there but I’ve been advised by others that America is very good for being able to buy things I need off the shelf as in the UK we tend to need to order them.
When you mentioned hotels can provide bed protection I think in my head that’s what I was hoping. With all the traveling and that I’m wetting really badly at the moment I worry about leaks from accidents, and as Kate likes to stay in quite nice hotels it’s added worry, which is why I was thinking of asking the hotels, then the beds are fully protected, and I can relax without having to worry about it. Kate will sort it all out online so I wouldn’t need to talk to anyone. I’m still not sure which way to go.
