You mean that there is a name for IT? Im not weird? Trichotillomania, that big, long word that is the bane of our world. With knowledge and support of others we CAN break free and live without this disorder interfering with our lives. Lets keep this uplifting and supportive and give each other the encouragement the other needs to make it to that next day.

i stopped pretty much - well, it was enough to regrow all my hair and that was over a year ago. Except. I've started again. I think it is going to get noticeable soon and the hard work . . . gone. Fuck. I have a hair appointment next week and hopeful she doesn't notice. It is so much money that she really can just be quiet . . . am paying for her silence at that price bracket, haha!
So, I will step back. Talk to my therapist. Breathe. Get out. Make myself get to the gym. Try to not get paranoid that it is noticeable now . . . take that NAC and anti-anxiety stuff I have, too. Just under a lot of pressure so it makes sense almost . . . that this would come up. Thankful to share that. This is something I tell one person about - my therapist. So - super nice to write that out. Even if you're strangers and might be serial killers. Well, likely not. Statistically speaking. Thanks, also . . . for any tips you might have on staying motivated for starting over again!

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Important note since the soothing feeling you get after a shower is a key to helping you reduce the urge significantly is to find a tool such as a comb that gives you the same sensation as you work to change the pattern of thought you are trying to switch.
So glad you have the head full of hair, and, yes, I can tell you, it is hard to accept normal when paranoid and panic are the normal you are replacing. You can do this!

Well, to answer your question, there is really nothing that helps me stop every single time. I am working really hard to grow out the entire top of my head because it's never been glorious and full. I find that if I don't avoid my triggers (which contradicts what I previously thought) and I bring myself up to the point of pulling, I am slowly able to sort of retrain my brain. It has brought me to tears several times fighting myself, but it does work...
