Back Pain Support Group
Back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek medical care. In fact, about 3 in 4 adults will experience back pain during their lifetime! The term back pain includes pain affecting the neck, midback and low back. Acute back pain may begin suddenly with intense pain but typically lasts fewer than three months. Usually, chronic back pain is persistent, steady, and...
I had a 2 year war with a disability insurance company because I have a rare disease. They did so many sleazy things it's hard to believe. Fortunately I knew a lawyer who worked on a contingency basis (a rare find but not impossible) and he ended up with about 15% of my settlement -would have been 30% but he is also a friend).
Meanwhile I also developed heart trouble (stress related?) and after that they suddenly changed their mind when we offered to sue them for that damage.
They made me go to a doctor they hired to examine me. Besides that he found that my symptoms were undeniably present, it was interesting to find out that he hated the insurance companies (who he WORKED FOR) more than I did!
That's because they also do to DOCTORS a lot like what they do to PATIENTS.
But try to find a way not to let your anger eat you up. I did not, and have a couple of stents in my heart and take 4 extra medicines (with all THEIR side-effects) as a result. A lot of other stress-related diseases or aggravation of other medical problems can happen to.
You have every right to be as angry as you are -it's hard to call the people who work for these companies and do these criminal things "human beings"--but only YOU pay for your inner anger, it does']t hurt THEM a bit.
There's a saying "don't get mad, get even", which in your case (and mind and so many others) I would change to--
"Don't get mad. get what you paid for and deserve"
And if you figure out how to do this, please tell me because I never did figure out how to become immune to my own righteous anger.
Wishing you the best and an end to the senseless travail you must still complete.
How are you feeling? Please give us an update about you. I hope you have been able to obtain an attorney to help you. Did you try contacting your states insurance commissioner? Usually they are helpful as they are there to monitor the insurance companies. It doesn't cost anything.
Take care of yourself!
Thanks again everyone for the well wishes! ~Teresa
