Yes, I did read this same info and we both knew this was definitely a possibility and the surgeon did disclose it, along with the potential for a pacemaker. I think it's just that, after treating the AFIB and having a "successful" ablation, it's hard to deal with. All of you experiencing AFIB know how it can make you feel. Venting frustration. We are both expecting conversion with meds. We truly appreciate the info and support and will keep you posted. Thanks for helping me stay positive.

Happy Easter everyone. The meds haven't converted the AFIB so they've scheduled a cardio version for tomorrow. So hoping this will get him converted and on the road to home and recovery.

Blessings! This is a lot for him to go through within a week. I am wondering if they would lower his rate to a safe speed, and let him recover and heal...then address the afib....which just might resolve on it's own, in time....just wondering...I am certain the Dr.'s know best.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow and praying for a successful cardioversion. I know it is frustrating but keep positive thoughts! Please keep us updated!

Prayers answered! Rick converted during the night and it's holding so no cardioversion. He obviously will need monitoring and some meds moving forward but we are so thankful he didn't have any more trauma. He told me when I left last night he was going to convert. We'll see where this leads, but hoping we can now move forward with his recovery.

Its always nice to have positive things happen; the start of an upward spiral! Im glad he self-converted. I hope everything else is going as planned.

Thanks again everyone. We are hoping Rick comes home tomorrow. Today they removed all IV drips and going to pill form of amiodarone and probably a anti-coagulant, though when I left tonight they hadn't done the evening meds. Rick took several walks today and all is stable. They wanted to monitor him for 24 hours off the IV meds, which is probably smart. We will see how things go with the recovery going forward. It will be interesting to see what meds they send him home with. Could be a new learning curve!

Watch out for Amiodarone - hope he won't be on it for long. But so glad he is doing so well and hope he gets to go home tomorrow:)

Re:amiodarone...they gave him a 14 day supply. Also on metoprolol. He was taking atenolol before. He also takes Simvastatin, and the pharmacist was asking me about the combination when I picked up the meds. We believe the amiodarone will be short term since he had the rapid AFIB after surgery, but have a call in to the cardiologist to ask about the pharmacists concerns. He was on this cocktail of drugs in the hospital. We have all sorts of follow up appointments in the next 10 days.

And, yes, we got home yesterday. Exhausting!

Went I went in for my ablation #2 several weeks ago, I made several POSIT notes and pasted them all over my body, including my forehead. The notes said "NO AMIODARONE"
