Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

This afternoon, I got the final clearance from my cardiologist so the EP can proceed with the ablation. I had the blood work which came back normal (with the exception of the 2.6 INR, to be expected), and the CT angiography (nothing remarkable other than the digital clock ticking where my heart should be -g-) . Anyhow, they're starting the transesophageal echo at noon on Monday and the cryo balloon PV ablation shortly after that. Hope to be back in a patient room for dinner.

Thank you all for the ongoing support. I will report back as soon as I am able, hopefully, Tuesday or Wednesday. Sharon will count my kidneys and corneas when I come out to make sure no one took any free samples. Xanax anyone?

Do you have plans for this weekend to keep you in the present moment? All the good ground work has been laid, so maybe a little day trip, or a good movie and dinner out. And pick up some Xanax for Sharon too!

Almost there buddy! Soon you will be one happy camper, with no afib. Good advice to stay busy this weekend. Helps the time fly by. Just know that you are making the right decision. I found that 1,500 Hail Mary's also helped as they wheeled me into the operating room...and then it was over. Stay strong! NSR forever!

Paul you will have so many thoughts and prayers with you. This is the ONE PERFECT ablation to be:) Glad your tests came out basically well.:) Am sure Sharon will take good care of you, too.
Say goobye to A-Fib!!!!!

Good luck Paul, we are wishing you many years of NSR. My husband is 15 months post ablation and things are smooth for him. The first few months after he had a lot of Pac's but that resolved on its own . Wishing you a quick recovery. The Chandless Family

Final clearance? Then it looks like your are ready for take off! Buckle up for safety I hope you have a smooth flight and a perfect landing, too!

BTW, whats wrong with an INR of 2.6? Isnt that where it should be?
