Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

mmrzz in my opinion figuring out the right combination of things does make a huge difference.
I stopped calcium supplements because it is supposedly excitatory to the heart. I try to get potassium and calcium from my diet.
to feel fluttering I take extra potassium and mag. Usually within an
hour my heart has stopped it's flopping. I only had one event last year.
And so far this year one event caused the day I had radiation for my
stress test. It lasted about 20 hours and I self converted.
I think it is up to the person to see what helps them. Some people
have written that they cannot tolerate potassium or mag.
some "experts" think most of us need more Mg.

"Some patients report benefit from magnesium supplementation. I have found it helpful in my case of atrial premature beats. Let me repeat, I am not promoting supplements. Healthy patients with benign arrhythmia might try taking magnesium, especially at night. Dont take magnesium if you have kidney disease. And if you take too much, watch out for diarrhea."
Dr. said my blood test shows good potassium, and she told me not to take supplements. I do take 250mg. magnesium 3-4x/month...I'm not real faithful to taking any supplements on a regular basis.
Just wondering...I saw the same entry by Dr. M about magnesium...and I believe CANMAN also said something about taking the supplement at bedtime. I have been taking it at lunch..now, I have no problem switching and taking the magnesium supplement at night, but just wondering...what is the benefit of taking it at night vice during lunch on a full stomach? Thanks.
