Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Last week it was suggested by my PCP that I try Magnesium, 250-500 for the legs cramps I've been experiencing at night.. I will. check with my cardiologist re: it's interaction with Warfarin if any? Differing opinions Re:interaction. It is recommended if on Warfarin to take the Magnesium 2hours later, Diarrhea a possible downside.

Also, the say to build up your manesium slowly to minimize side effects ( like loose stools.)
I'm waiting though, until I do the blood test before doing anything.
" Magnesium apparently plays a key role in the regulation of sleep. Research has shown that even marginal magnesium deficiency can prevent the brain from settling down at night. One of the most absorbable forms of magnesium is magnesium citrate powder, available in health food stores. Try taking two doses, following label directions, a day, with the second dose right before bed. You can also get magnesium from food. Good sources include green leafy vegetables, wheat germ, pumpkin seeds, and almonds."
Magnesium and K I do eat a lot of berries and yogurt in a shake. I can add to my shake if it may benefit my heart

Someone tried to bring me into this century as far as uploading my photo...I am ALMOST there! You might notice that I am sort of leaning to one side! How do I make the top of my head get a teensy bit closer to the top of the picture?
Stuck in the 1950s
Still stuck in the 1950s, but now heading in the right direction!
You might have to do what I did...find someone young to help! It did take a few minutes to upload...are you giving it enough time? Since I am COMPLETELY computer illiterate, that is my only guess! good luck!

I just had the blood test Saturday. I'm anxious to see mthat my magnesium levels will be.
Anyway, I took 1tsp of natural calm before I went to bed last night in warm water as the label tells you, and I woke up at 4am in afib! On top of that, Im so thirsty.
I don't know if the magnesium is reacting to the bystolic, or if I just can't tolerate magnesium supplements.
My heart is still flip flopping around as I type this. I'm so discouraged.
When I take Metoprolol for PIP it takes me average of 12 hrs. to convert.
I wonder, dehydration? I know I am challenged to drink enough (more) water with this heat. I need to drink some now~
Hugs and hope you are OK!!!!
