Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I think it's a bad idea to remain in afib IF you can avoid it. If I were you, I'd be looking at an ablation sooner than later if that's an option for you. My dad has silent afib and is constantly in and out of it. Eleven years ago he opted to "treat" his afib with drugs. Now today he's a mess. He's retaining fluid and has swelling in his legs and feet because of his afib. I've watches his health slowly decline over the years because of his afib and the drugs he's on. I know there are a lot of people that just live with it but personally I wouldn't be comfortable letting my heart beat out of control for years on end, nor would I be comfortable taking drugs every day.
What drugs does your cardiologist have you on right now?
