Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.

And. What he said was. Since heart rate always below 100 usually 70 to 83. And according to chads2 test I scored 1. My chance of stroke is 1.3 percent so he favored to go with heart rate verses heart rythm which meant. Stay on calcium blocker since. He said it was working. With minimal side affects and to quit the coumadin. And take 81mg asprin.....also I asked about cardioversion he said no. Treat the rate over the rythm since everything else looked ok. And I quit cigs and lost 23 lbs so far. And am eating healthy and exercising. ....he said he has studied on latest situations. For afib. And in my case yes I have afib but doing a cardioversion at this time would not benefit. Me because the calcium blocker is doing what it should. And he likes different paths than more meds and invasive techniques. Thanks again tony
Whats the plan? To just continue with the calcium channel blocker until something changes? Go back in a year?
So, sit back, relax and enjoy the day!

I know others personally with persistent, that don't even know they have it. My friends are on Pradaxa, so I guess they have a higher Chads score.
I think your lifestyle changes are a Huge benefit for you. There are studies that show improved life style changes can diminish afib symptoms. Kudos to you!!
Keep up the good Choices.
I am glad you liked your Dr.
Ill check into cardio decision more deeply. Tony
Are you thinking you want to be Cardioverted with a shock?
I think your Dr. is thinking Antiarrhythmic drugs as the option...that is rhythm control.
Do you know how long you have been in AF? Have you ever come out of it? Are you able to check your own pulse to see if you are in it all the time?
Some folks have afib once and not again for many years. Each person has a different story!
