Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
Spoken like a true Republican who watches Fox News. Lol. ;)
But seriously, I wonder if it's the THC or carcinogenous stuff/smoke etc. direct effects on the lungs and bloodstream. :/
I did some research on boards.cannabis.com:

No, I use a vaporizer and my heart rate goes through the roof. I think the main reason is because THC dilates blood vessels, lowering blood pressure, and your heart pumps faster to maintain blood pressure.
I have read that brownies don't get you has high as it is an inefficient way of getting the THC. It appears more THC equals higher heart rate.
My favorite post on the marijuana board is below. Great doctor to have. :-) :

Explain to me how marijuana can make your heart rate increase, while making blood pressure drop? You'd think that would spike too...
I don't think anyone's mentioned Visualization or Controlled Breathing as relaxation techniques. Both have worked wonders for me, and the more I practice them, the more natural they've become. They were a life saver when I went through the early days with breast cancer.
What exactly is controlled breathing and visualization? Do you mean deep , slow breaths that you are counting?
Visualization can be whatever you want it to be, but basically it's envisioning yourself differently than you are at any particular moment, especially if you're going through something difficult. You can imagine yourself someplace else, or imagine yourself dealing with things more successfully than you have thus far and projecting that image into your current situation. It can be as simple as reminding yourself to unclench your fists and breathe more deeply ... or more complex coping tricks such as re-directing your self-talk to more positive directions. "I AM worthy, I am beautiful, I will choose how I react to this temptation or provocation or problem, not just surrender without hope." And on and on...
I know a lot of people hate the idea of not being honest, hate being fake, and yet research by psychologists have found that if you put a smile on your face even when you don't feel like smiling, you'll eventually feel happier. It's more complex than that, of course, but quite often our attitude is a matter of choice, not simply circumstances.
It works, it really does.
On one of the other afib sites they are talking about Cialis and Viagra.
