Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I hope I didn't scare you off. Good luck on your test tomorrow, I'll think about you and hope it all goes well. Let us know.
I hate when I feel vulnerable and scared and then someone treats you like that. It's not in my nature to be that way so I don't get it. Even if it's a person I don't care for, my heart and compassion would always win me over. I think people who deal with others like that need to have some type of compassion. My daughter tries to act tough sometimes to shield herself in her job, but I've seen her cry over some of her patients. She is an EMT. She doesn't always get to hear the end results of her transports.
Yes, some people just get into the wrong profession, and then can't afford to get out of it even if they want to.
I went for a chemical stress test recently. I can't do the treadmill as I am disabled It was scary and felt weird and took much longer than I had expected it to take, but what made it better is that the two women who administered the test treated me so kindly, almost as if I was a scared child (not far off). They made the test bearable.
While I was waiting to get my test, I think before they injected me with the radioactive stuff, someone in an adjoining room had to be taken to the ER. All I heard was a commotion and them screaming to get the doctor. I was scared to begin with but that almost made me walk out of the place! But I stuck it out and the bottom line, my heart has no blockages and is structurally OK. I just hope I don't have to have another one of those soon! lol
