Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I pray that your surgery is sucessfull and that you are Afib free!
Blessings and hugs,
Cheryl

Will that include a PVI too or is he doing straight FIRM without isolating the pulmonary veins?
Best of Luck
McHale
McHale: We decided to do just the FIRM, as Dr. N has had excellent results without isolating the PV in those of us with paroxysmal AFIB. I hope it's the right decision
That's exactly what I want to hear FIRM without PVI which Dr Narayan thinks is unnecessary burning. 7-10 burns for FIRM only vs 55-70 for PVI is a huge advantage so I would be elated if I can have that only. I'm sure if he sees some triggers near the pulmonary veins he'll ablate them too. I know he stirred up some controversy using this approach but I hear his results are just as good or better.
Did you husband have it done too?
I'm wishing you the best and it's a minimalistic approach which is good.
Best,
McHale
I see that many have been touting FIRM as THE answer..and if you are going to have this type of ablation done, why not go with THE best! There certainly isn't any controversy that Dr. N is DA MAN! Congrats on getting the top notch guy. My prayers are with you. NSR forever, for all!
