Atrial Fibrillation (AFib) Support Group
Atrial fibrillation (AF or afib) is an abnormal heart rhythm (cardiac arrhythmia) which involves the two small, upper heart chambers (the atria). Heart beats in a normal heart begin after electricity generated in the atria by the sinoatrial node spread through the heart and cause contraction of the heart muscle and pumping of blood.
I'm already on bystolic for blood pressure. In fact the pharmacist took a double take because she didnt understand why I was taking two BP medications. When I told her it was for a sudden afib event, she got it,

I think it is perfectly normal for you to have some depression when diagnosed with any chronic condition, especially involving your heart. Anxiety is very common too. Some of the medications, especially the beta blockers, could also make you feel kind of sluggish or tired. I doubt if coumadin would be likely to cause depression...it would be more likely to cause some GI upset, although most people seem to tolerate it well.
Glad you found us...just knowing you are not alone can help so much. Take care.
I was prescribed Metoprolol 50mg. 2x day. I could not function. I hated the way I felt. Dr. cut dosage several times but insisted that I take it regardless of my lethargy.
I got a new Dr. He let me take it as PIP. I take Pradaxa and do fine with it. Some folks are slowed down with Beta Blockers. Are you taking one?
