I do hope you feel better! And get a resolution to the cough! As for me, my asthma is doing good and is controlled, but if you saw my posts, I'm having some weird and random symptoms now. Unrelated to asthma perhaps, but annoying and sometimes painful anyhow!

Hopefully the benadryl helps!! I know Alavert D helped me today when my allergies were kicking my butt!!

I'm still coughing and lately I've been coughing up yellowish phlegm. I don't have chills or a fever so I don't think it's an infection. I think it's due to my allergies. I have chronic sinusitis and allergic rhinitis. The pollen count is really high here. Also today I went back to clean at all our apartment. Mold is in the windows, in the hall closet, in the bedroom, the bathroom and in the seal in the bottom of the refrigerator. My boyfriend cleaned the mold but in our old apartment hardly any of the windows open. The new apartment has a lot of windows that open and our balcony has a screen door too. I'm sorry you're having so much trouble red velvet! I'm not sure what that rash could be. Is alavert D different than reactine? I hope you feel better soon!

I forgot to mention that I ran out of symbicort but still had some pulmicort left over so I've been using that. My doctor was supposed to call in refills but they didn't. My family doctor has been on maternity leave since December and has had other doctors replacing her for short periods of time. The doctor isn't back in the office until May 1st so I have to wait until then to get refills! My asthma has been really bad lately but especially today. I've been taking cough expectorant/suppressant before bed because I cough when I lay down. I also still cough during the day and end up coughing up phlegm and today i feel out of breath and dizzy. I was woken up at 5:30am by my wheezing. It was so loud that it woke me up. I took some pulmicort and some ventolin and eventually was able to go back to sleep. It feels like I have mucus in my airways that I just can't cough up! The pollen count has been high here. I don't think the reactine helps as much as it used to. Is there anything stronger that I can take that is non drowsy?

What other rescue medications do you have? You need to do a twenty minute nebulizer breathing treatment!

I only have ventolin(albuterol) as a rescue medication. Also I have no nebulizer. I know someone who has one they aren't using but I would still have to get the prescription for the medication to use in it. I really wish I did have a nebulizer! I know the breathing treatment in the ER always makes me feel so much better! Is the nebulizer the only other rescue treatment besides the ventolin?

Yes there are! You have albuterol and levalbuterol. You need more than one rescue inhaler it sounds, and a nebulizer. I am on my nebulizer daily because I am severe and there is nothing like waking up and taking a breathing treatment to start the day!

My asthma wasn't bothering me much in the morning but as the day has gone on it's been becoming worse. I feel like I have phlegm stuck in my chest that I can't cough up and and my chest feels tight when I breathe in. My lungs hurt.

I think the first time I took my pulmicort in the evening I only took one puff so I took another one. I also took some ventolin(albuterol) which has helped. I feel better now.

Good. Do you have a spacer? I hope you do as every asthmatic needs one just as they need an inhaler! I am happy your asthma is under control, do you has a peak flow meter? What are you flowing?

I have a spacer and a peak flow meter. I don't really use my peak flow meter too much because I find that I can't really blow out air quickly enough. I could do it when my asthma educator was there but not now especially not since I have had this cough. In the asthma educator's office I could blow 450-500. At home the most I can do is 350 and 300 when I'm really not feeling well.

Lower lung function at home without your asthma educator's presence is funny; I would imagine them being the same wherever you are and whomever is in your presence. Lung function for Me is always the same regardless of where I am or whom is with me.

When I was with my asthma educator last it was before I had my cold with asthma flair and this cough. I didn't find it as hard then. I have been able to get good results on my peak flow at home before my cold and this cough that won't go away. I started coughing March 13th and had a really bad cold and cough for a couple of weeks. The cough still lingers. It's not as bad as before.

This sounds terrible. The sickness you have sounds like torture. How bad would you say your asthma gets when you get sick like this?
