Asthma Support Group
Asthma is a disease of the human respiratory system where the airways narrow, often in response to a "trigger" such as exposure to an allergen, cold air, exercise, or emotional stress. This airway narrowing causes symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and coughing, which respond to bronchodilators.
Sorry you are having this problem. My first thought would be in my own experience is that there might be an infection going on. Maybe a sinus or bronchial infection. If you suffer from allergies, could be post nasal drip. Personally I would see the doctor as soon as you can to be on the safe side. I know for me when I catch the common cold I can't usually get rid of it without some extra help because it usually settles in my chest. That is just my own personal experience we are all different and react differently. Hope you feel better soon though and can get some relief.

Hope you feel better soon and get some relief. Let us know how things turn out after you check in with the doc.
But as for what to do in the meantime, I like a hot steam shower it opens up my lungs. also, I get a drop or two of that Dr. Bronner's Peppermint liquid soap and put it on a cloth and put it over my face (try to avoid the eye area) and BREATHE in deeply, the peppermint is strong and it opens everything up if only temporarily. I do this while in the shower so I get the steam too.
And I also like to drink a lot of hot lemon water and after a couple days it seems to make the mucous loosen up a bit. But this one takes awhile, so do this in between doctor visits.
Last but not least, I use Ocean sinus saline spray (the big orange bottle, not the small one). And I use the rounded tip one and clean out my nostrils with it. It helps so much with congestion and opening up sinuses. I like it better than the neti pot which can get extra unpleasant.
Take care!! And see if you can get a prescription for a nebulizer! Keep us posted, hope you feel some relief soon!

I don't cough much today but blow my nose a lot. There's thick yellowish mucus. No fever though just night sweats sometimes. I feel a little out of breath no matter how much asthma medication I take so there must still be some chest congestion. I've been inhaling vicks vapor with my vicks vaposteam inhaler. You put vicks and hot tap water in it and inhale the steam.
Also sounds like you might have a sinus infection (I'm a frequent receiver of those as well)...Ilike to " clean out" with Ocean sinus rinse (the big one not the tiny one I hate the tiny one) and it helps keep the at bay for the most part...but for now its or comfort for you until you can get an antibiotic or something!
Take care I hope you feel better soon!!
