Cave once and it will be even harder to stand your ground the next time. You know how things work better than a 12 (or 18) year old, and that's why you get to be the mommy.
There should be a medal that could be awarded to good parents. You would get one.
I know for high school I would leave the house so honestly I could have done a first period class. that was in reaction to I needed time to settle before the classes and be in the setting so it wasn't a shock when things started happening
as for hating school I think thats a normal reaction times 10 plus. it may just be that the things aren't stimulating her mind or that she doesn't get along with the teacher/kids/ setting, you may try to figure out what any one of those are.

If you teenager doesn't think your decisions are sound you can probably bet you're on the right track. Check it out with other parents, or better yet, grandparents.
Kids become terribly selfish during the teen years - not that they weren't selfish before, they just become terrible on top of the selfish. They have a greater ability to make you feel like crap.
It doesn't help that television puts parents down so much. If she keeps acting up, take away the TV, too. Hah! I wish I had.
Be the parent. This too, shall pass.

that and combined with her age I am not really surprized this is happening tho . you are doing just fine I think, but what do I know in the parenting relm.
