Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction.
Looking for folks who have had a recent knee replacement to compare the experience. I had a complete knee replacement three weeks ago. The first two weeks, I thought I was doing great. Now I feel like I have come to a standstill or taken a step backward. I am having a really hard time bending my knee. It is so stiff. The swelling has gone down a lot, even though of course there is some swelling. It feels like an elastic band. It loosens up but if I sit down or am still just a little it draws back up again. Can't sleep at night because it aches and they want you to only sleep on your back. The only way I can sleep at all is to put it on a pillow and they tell me that's a no-no too. But with some things, you have to do what you have to do. Also, I'm a side sleeper and that's a no-no too, although I do turn over with a pillow between my knees and just relax it a few minutes for a change. Also about 8 pm, I feel like I have a bit of restless leg. I am trying to not take so much pain medicine. I've tried to just take it at bedtime and take Tylenol Arthritis the rest of the time. But I also hear that you need that pain medicine to get through the pain of the therapy. My doctor isn't prescribing very many at a time so I feel like he doesn't want me to take much. Would love to hear others with this experience. I'm 70 years old and I told my therapist yesterday that I didn't think this 70-year-old knee wanted to do this. She said but it's not a 70-year-old knee. It's brand new. But I still had 70-year-old muscles. Help!!! Would love to share this journey with others.

I invited Bill to have dinner with me last Sunday. He wasn't willing to drive 7 hours to mid Michigan and teased me with his beautiful ribs!!! So, of course I ate alone and had cedar salmon

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

if you have anything that I can explain I will try my best....my last one was year ago aug 31st and I have little stiffness but the pain is not there as it was before.....
I had so much pain in various parts of my leg and worse in my foot before the surgery that what I had after seemed like a lot less.
I used walkers and a transport chair for a while before and after surgery and now due to back problems and leg length discrepancy am using a cane which I consider an achievement. Keep moving the leg and use ice to relieve the swelling. You will heal. It just takes a little while. Every person is different. I wish you the best. Let us know how you progress.
I go out for physical therapy. My surgery was three weeks ago this past Wednesday. I went to therapy five days a week for the first two weeks. I am now on three days a week this week and next week. I think I have to be evaluated then and will probably go to two days. I do not have one of those machines that work the knee. The Physical Therapy place that I'm going to let me borrow an ice machine. It is wonderful. So much better than having to try to use ice packs. Thanks again for all the comments and suggestions. Keep them coming.
I'm also having trouble with restless legs. I'm taking magnesium hoping that will help. Does anybody else have that problem and have solved it in any way.
