Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

As most of you know Mom has night terrors and night mares. A couple of times she has been in a night terror and threatened to kill herself. She gets in these times by asking God to take care of me(of all things). I hate the thought that I might be the reason she does these night terrors.
We don't seem to be getting any better with her condition--pain in her back but the gabapentin is helping with the nerve pain. It still comes but not as often. She does need to get up and move more. She does fine walking when she wants to. When she is walking in her sleep, she does have worse balance but she is asleep. She talks so much in her sleep.
While ago she was going to leave because she thought I didn't want her and was mad at her. I keep telling her, I am not mad but scared. We can't afford to do much more about this living situation. No nursing home and most of the time she doesn't need extra help. Only when she is asleep! When she is awake, she says not to take the sleeping person that she becomes seriously. She would never harm herself-she says.
I finally remembered to call the dr and he said to increase the gabapentin to 200 mg tonight. If Mom will do this, we can see how things work. If only she could get some really restful sleep!!!
I'm so off balance now it is effecting my emotional health. Sometimes I feel just a bit off. This morning I had to take tylenol for the head ache and use the massager on my shoulders and upper back. I was so tense. This last few months, I have cried a river-no sh*t. This on top of the news, violance, politics, no job, not sleeping enough myself--I have hit bottom. I keep saying I give up but I keep going because there is no other choice.
Probably when Mom wakes up from her nap this afternoon, she will be fine and herself again. That seems to be how things go.
I read again about night terrors and she is there with the symptons. Classic, so why cannot she be helped? I guess it is "her age". They don't want to bother themselves to really find out why. Medically she is just a case number.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
Your mom is worrying about you in her sleep.
You are keeping one foot in front of the other and moving forward.
So, to help your mom rest peacefully, make time to physically and mentally relax your tensed muscles and your voice. This will help your mom see it before she goes to sleep.
Keep writing it out!
Lap dogs who can fit easily in your bed make the best "sleep dogs." The dachshunds were the sweetest of the "sleep dogs" I've met.
Steadying support while you find what works for you. Keep venting. Your answers are in there.
