Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

When I was 15 I had my first panic attack or what I felt was a heart attack. I thought I was dying so I went to the emergency room only to be told there's nothing wrong with me. That was the beginning of my journey with anxiety. From that day on I couldn't handle being around people that I did not feel comfortable with. My heart raced, I felt like I was about to faint, and I thought my face was twitching. After years of therapy and trying different medications I finally learned how to deal with my anxiety or so I thought. I'm 41 today and it's been an up and down battle since the first panic attack at 15. I haven't been able to break free completely but I'm able to get control over it for a while. The most recent episode as I call it started when my dad died suddenly three months ago. I had to hire a lawyer to settle his estate and pay his bills in the meantime so the stress of it all has been unbearable. I think this has been the worst episode I've ever had. My head and neck feel tense, I have sharp pains on one side of my head, I get dizzy and can't see clearly, I feel like I can't breathe, and it's difficult to drive or go out in public. My doctor said grief can do some crazy stuff to you but this is too much for me to handle! I've tried accepting the anxiety as I did before but it's not working this time. I know I won't be like this forever and I have to keep working at it. Am I the only one with this kind of experience?

I'm feeling down,, and got alot on my mind right now. I got grief going on, on top my depression and anxiety and now I got to worry about somewhere to live since I can't afford living here since my mom passed. So many bad things have happened since my mom passed. One thing after another it seems. Yesterday our fence fell from a storm that hit, had to call someone to prop it up. Thank...

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...
i believe i was in my mid-20's the first time i rushed to the er, thinking i was having a heart attack. i had long been making the rounds of doctors, looking for relief from colon pain, headaches and psoriasis which i have since begun attributing to my ptsd/anxiety. i am currently 69 and i have come a long learning how to manage my anxiety before it can attack my body, but seismic events, such as the death of a family member, can bring the symptoms back, full force. the good news is that my anxiety management techniques have held up (mostly) to those seismic events, but they remain a challenge.
condolences on the loss of your father. grieving is a long and mysterious process. steadying support while you work the process. easy does it. be gentle with yourself and patient with the process.
welcome aboard.
Writing it out, doing simple exercises to loosen the stiff and tensed muscles, staying hydrated will help reduce the impact of the physical symptoms experienced.
Working out the feelings and finding the balance in the moment is breathing. Practice the breathing, stop, pause, breath, choice, repeat until calm.
Sorry for your loss.
