Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
1) muscle spasms which move rather randomly around my body. I can never predict which muscle set they will twitch from, chest area and internal organs included.
2) pleurisy where the tissues around my rib cage swell up, though my pleurisy is more of a sharp pain than a twitch.
Both are medical mysteries. None of my doctors have known the cause for either one, nor did they see either as a clear and immanent danger. Anti-inflammatory meds ease the pleurisy. Aspirin is typically enough for me.
It might not be a medical problem, but best to get it checked out by a doctor to rule out any medical issues. You might need to see a cardiologist and have them run some heart tests.
If it's not medical, then it's probably a muscle spasm, pinched nerve, type of thing. You said before that you are very active...do you work out, lift weights too? Could just be a pinched nerve from working out. But again, if this has happened more than once without explanation, then I would suggest having your doctor check you out. Could put your mind at ease, knowing what it is.
