Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
So they hooked me up to monitor my heart rate, blood pressure, and oxygen output. I have high bloodk pressure anyway so I told them not to tell me what it was b/c it gets me even more worked up when I know it's high. So even at my worst and right after hyperventalating, they said my numbers were high, but not high enough to cause them concern. They said they weren't worried at all and I'd be fine.
i still didn't believe them and I kept having panic attacks, but all they could do was talk me through them until they passed, which they finally did. They were going to give me a lorazepam (ativan) while I was there to calm me down a bit, but they weren't going to let me drive after that if I took one. So I just waited until after I left and took one when I got home.
So really they didn't do much for me, but the fact that they weren't worried kind of made me feel better. They said they get people like me in all the time, and it's no big deal. So now I try to get through my panic attacks at home in other ways, but trust me, I know how hard it is. The ER is so tempting. But really, they end up just being there for support.
Instead of going to the ER for your stomach acid, I'd schedule a doc appointment so they can get to the bottom of it and prescribe something better to help you. You can tell them how much anxiety it's causing you and how it causes panic attacks from worrying about it. They should be able to help decide what to do from there. It's hard not to worry about it but just remember that worry is probably your anxiety coming through, and it's normal to feel this way.
