Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. Hello everyone,
I was so glad when I found this forum! I cannot begin to tell you how many times I have travelled on my own..countless! Once I am on the plane I can then relax its just everything that happens before sends me into an awful anxiety ride.
I'm going to go on a train to the airport for the first time ever on my own and I'm terrified that I won't get on the right platform. I know everything is clearly marked but when I'm anxious everything becomes so confusing for me and I just want to curl up in a ball and cry. I've learnt little ways to cope at the airport such as always sitting by the screen so I don't miss my gate number and then when that comes on I ensure to take a picture because my anxiety makes me forget everything!
Does anyone have any ideas on how to cope.. the lead up and on the day is just so mentally and physically exhausting!
Thank you so much!

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
in my adult life, i've mostly just travelled for pleasure, but i've travelled allot. it sounds to me like you already have a solid set of coping mechanisms. supplementing that set of coping mechanisms with peer support might be all you need to keep them functional. oftentimes, when my coping mechanisms start losing their effectiveness, sharing within my peer support network, such as you did with this very post, is all i need to fine tune those old coping mechanisms to give them renewed strength.
my suggestion would be for you to give this forum a twirl to see if it helps.
welcome aboard. hope you find stabilizing companionship here
You have made arrangements, so practice relaxing breathing, excitement anxiety is natural as well.

Even when it seems pretty clear where I need to be, I will sometimes confirm it with a staff member especially if I’m in a big city like Chicago which has a huge, busy train station with multiple trains, platforms etc.
i've gotten much further with radical acceptance of those unwelcome feelings. with radical acceptance, i no longer waste energy processing the surprise factor. they remain inconvenient at times, but they lose their power to disrupt the business at hand.
