Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

i'm currently awaiting the visitation pickup which will mark the commencement of the 5th holiday season since inheriting my 3 orphans. i'm tempted to believe that the anticipation anxiety has begun to segway into ? ? ? for my psycho nickel, the uncertainty of what lives on the other end of a transition is what makes transitions so anxiousy. is that a proverbial light at the end of the tunnel or just another fast moving train? the big for sure is that the visitation pickups seem to have found a predictable and quasi-trustworthy rhythm. i'm reasonably confident that my daughter-in-law's family is not going to pull any of the domestic law games in-laws are culturally famous for. the children, 4, 7 and 10, are excited about the week with their mother's family and the ritual of packing, etc., is familiar enough that they are close to being able to do it themselves. anxious worry over potential lawsuits, etc., seem to be giving way to gratitude that the children get to know both branches of their family tree. i am even feeling secure enough to believe that the week off from childcare won't usher in a new set of complications to deal with on their return.
alas, that doesn't mean the anxiety demons have granted me peace, at last. i like to blame it on my hyper-active metabolism that those beasts are always gnawing on some part of my psyche. even all-natural stimulants have that effect. the anxiety of getting to know my departed son's in-laws has been giving way to the matrimonial yaddahs which had hubs and i living in different states when this trail of tears started in 2018. sigh. . . an anxious mind can always find something to worry about.
plying therapy tools. . . this post is the step of getting ^it^ into words and sharing those words in a safe space.
today i leave the mood icon squarely on "okay." just sharing in hopes of keeping ^it^ okay. . .
the only thing harder than finding a balance is keeping a balance.

Being able to bring the children through the 'sharing of family' and evolving feelings of all the 'potential' is impressive.
Here's to a successful experience for all of you.
the munchkins are on pins and needles, but the course is holding steady. could watching them bounce off walls qualify as research on waiting anxiety?
the pickup is done and the quiet has settled over the homestead. i worry more about quiet kids than noisy ones. quiet kids are all too often in the midst of conspiratorial stupidity. i've been known to have panic attacks over silence.
i may have a temper tantrum on hubby's face if he jokes one more time about making kid noises for the sake of panic attack prevention.
I can respect the feelings of 'too quiet'. It's a challenge that does not get easier when panic attacks are involved.
Here's to you making it through the quiet and the noise challenges with success.

my son and his wife were divorce waltzing at the time the children were seized into protective custody and placed with the maternal family in 2018 while i was living in another state. the mother was appalled at her children being with her morbidly obese welfare null parents and nearly immediate in her campaign to shift custody to hubs and i. that shift happened approximately six weeks before the traffic accident which took both parents en route to their 4th visitation with the children here on the farm, a three hour drive north of where they lived. a drive they would not have been making if not for the custody shift. the accident happened 2 miles from the farm. we assumed they were just flaking out --again-- and did not even investigate their failure to appear. it felt like business as usual. it took the police four days to find us.
my son's in-laws asked about collaborating in wrongful death lawsuits before they asked where their daughter's body was. we couldn't go there with the grievous need to collaborate on a double funeral, on our dime, of course. they had lawyers on our case before the caskets were closed. it hasn't been that long since a maternal aunt sent another lawyer after us pursuing custody.
i'm not so sure my bond with the children is the primary culprit in the current go-round. just guessing. . . the debate rages.
in my first parenting career, the mixed emotions were closer to what you describe.
