General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

I suffer anxiety and post here on occasion...I post this concern because I feel I can get some good feedback here. We had a bad storm Saturday night and my son and his friends stopped by here on their way somewhere else and we were under a tornado warning...I had them stay here with me and my husband until it passed over. I was walking around with my fingers in my ears and told them that that's how I deal with storms...by blocking out the noise of them. Then my husband pops open a beer and said.."well this is how I deal with them." I then said, "well, you'll probably live longer." Ok this has been a little drug out..but that statement I made..is the problem that I'm having. As a Christian I don't drink or support it's use. I don't judge people who do it..that's not my place. It's just that for me as a Christian I don't personally think it's a good thing to do. Anyway, that comment I made made it sound like I'm ok with it and I'm not. It was just an in the moment comment based on the fact that my husband was calm as a cucumber and I was a nervous wreck....and I pretty much regretted it not long after I realized what I'd said. Now I feel like I need to apologize to these boys for being a bad christian example. I have already apologized to one and he was nice about it and said no problem. It makes it hard because i can tell everyone in my house thinks I'm a nut for making such a big deal out of it..but as a Christian I feel like if we are a bad example we should apologize for it. Can anyone here relate to what I'm saying and do you have any advice?

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.

"don't be a hate hole" has been one of my recent mantras which seems to be escaping my mouth more and more often. it emerges when i am faced with the endless list of chores i would rather not deal with. insurance. head lice. bureaucracy. in-laws. the list goes on and on and on and on, ad infinitum.reality checks requested. am i making sense?"ever'thin they is but loving leaves a rust on your...

You do the best you can with what you have, and move forward.
Every decision, every choice, has consequences. You can change how you view the situation which will change the way others respond when their usual response no longer fits.
Anxiety related to alcohol often is masking an underlying issue.
Best wishes in finding your way through this.
Not sure who you apologized to and why? Your comment was momentary and a "throw away" comment made under stress and means nothing. It offended no one.
Plus, I thought a Christian ONLY needs forgiveness from God.
Maybe you should read about 'scrupulosity" incase you have not. It is just one of OCDs many symptoms and known by the Catholic Church since the 1200's, long before Freud was around.
Just wondering if you have ever had any professional help for your OCD or GAD? Gone thru ERP (exposure and response therapy) for OCD or tried any meds like SSRI's, anti-anxiety meds, etc.?
Not sure how you can improve without professional help.
PS Didn't Jesus drink wine at the last supper?
