Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

It has been a long time since I last posted, but I believe someone here will understand where I am coming from.
I am anxious to find a new dentist. It has taken years to find a psychiatrist and a primary doctor who I feel genuinely cares about me. For example, my primary care physician always asks me 'how I'm feeling' and not physically she always wants to know how I am doing coping with stress and my anxiety; based on previous encounters, this is rare. With her, I feel as if I am more than a chart or a bag of symptoms.
Nevertheless, I haven't visited the dentist in the last three years because my previous dentist returned to teaching. Therefore, I find myself googling home remedies for cavities because the thought of encountering an insincere doctor has me shaking. For non-anxious persons, this would be seen as an overreaction; but it is emotionally taxing and discouraging.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
I used to go to the same dentist my Dad went to. If he switched dentists, so did I. Later, when I needed a really complex root canal done, I just out of nowhere asked my brother if he happened to know of a good endodontist, and he did, and I have been going to this one for years now... and he is great! I almost enjoy going there, everyone is so nice.
Get yourself to a dentist for an exam and cleaning and x-rays. 3 years is a long time, and it's always good to take care of anything with teeth earlier, not later.
They recommend going for a cleaning at least twice a year (I go 4 times a year). And, you can't feel if you have cavities. Better to take care of these things early, while it's not painful and it will cost less money now.
In my experience (going to the dentist since age 3), dental problems don't go away on their own. They only get worse.
You can do it! You will be fine!
The dentist at the old office was an old friend and nice enough but I could have cut the tension with a knife.
The new dentist is calm, easy going and quick. Do if I need major dental work it's fast and he's just a joy. I found him through family because he is a cousin to my husband. There are good dentists out there. Ironically the first dentist identified themselves as being gentle and patient oriented. The place I go to now is a family dental office, with obvious low overhead. Don't give up hope.
You will find what works for you.
