Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
After several reprieves/delays it finally happened... We moved my oldest child into her dorm yesterday. It's weird, she's taken trips with friends to places much further away than the university is, and she's been gone for less than 24 hours, but I feel her absence in a way that I haven't felt before. No doubt because I'm thinking about her absence in a different way. I find myself thinking about this as the beginning of her no longer living at home as opposed to that she's just not around for a while.
I am excited for her. I'm also nervous for her. And so many more emotions... I need to remind myself that our connection hasn't been cut, it's just being stretched, and stretching something out can be uncomfortable... painful, even. I can look to the future and the opportunities that lie before her rather than focus on the change that is taking place. There is grief, and I do want to recognize that and allow myself to experience it, but their is also excitement and joy I need to recognize and experience that too.
Life has gone and changed in me again and it's thrown off my balance. I just need to keep pedaling and reminding myself I can get it back.

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Acceptance of the change is a huge first step!
I know, it's hard when you move them into the dorm. That's the moment when reality hits your heart-your child is moving into independence of your wings and taking responsibility for their roots.
I like the idea of pedaling-it really does fit!
You're not alone, and grieving for this awesome milestone moment is natural!
I appreciate and agree with what you've said. In a lot of ways, allowing myself to feel this grief now is a positive. First, I have a pretty long history of stuffing emotion and then it coming out in force much later on... so acknowledging how I'm feeling and allowing myself to feel it is big for me.
It also makes me of something I've heard and read which is along the lines of be thankful for grief because it means you've loved and been loved. The reason this hurts is because she and I have a strong connection and that is a thing to celebrate, and this pain and grief is part of that celebration.
steadying support while you keep on pedaling.
