Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Anxiety can create all kinds of havoc. Whenever we tighten our muscles and they stay tight due to stress, it pulls everything out of adjustment.
If you can, tune into your body every hour or so and just tell yourself "Relax" and systematically relax each muscle group.
You may also want to go in for a massage or soak in a hot bath or shower.
I hope you're able to enjoy the graduation. It's probably good you're going to do something that is a fun celebration as this may help you shift your thinking and calm the muscles that are tight.
A little trick I was given is to tighten your hands into fists and hold for 20 seconds, then release. Make yourself aware of the difference between the tense muscle vs a relaxed one; the feeling should then echo through your body. If you need, go down your body and tense various muscles and release to help your body remember that relaxed feeling (ex. hands, biceps, point your toes, then point them up...etc.)
Most importantly, remember to enjoy your grandson's graduation :) Congrats, that is very special !
