Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I have been on lexapro for several years, but the past year I've been having panic attacks as well as random anxiety moments and depersonalization. I have an irrational fear of being in situations I'm not able to get out of ex planes, elevators, sometimes car
2 weeks ago I had to fly out of town for a work trip and I had severe panic attacks the whole time on the plane as well as mild anxiety the whole time I was away from home. When I got back I went to the doc and he changed my medication to celexa.
I'm really nervous about starting celexa considering when I started lexapro it made me feel really weird and made my anxiety worse
Does anyone here have any experience switching meds and what I could expect?
he has me stopping lexapro and starting celexa the next day

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
While I think you should do what your doctor says, I am just curious why he didn't try to up your dose of Lexapro first? Or, give you a benzo for during the day (Xanax, Lorazepam, etc). I take a benzo during the day, and an SSRI (such as what you take), at night. Taking two in conjunction with each other. Because they both cover different kinds of anxieties.
Is this a psychiatrist you are seeing? They are more knowledgeable about anxiety medicine than a regular doctor.
I have zero experience with either med, but I wanted to welcome you to the forum.
Welcome aboard.
What ever you choose with medication, you also need to add natural techniques to help you find balance in the moment. Practice even breathing. Stand in front of mirror until you can feel and see confidence in your appearance and it shows naturally. That's the calm place you want to use to balance your anxiety back within normal range.
Anxiety works for you. Figuring out how to make it be that way make take a bit of effort and determination. Keeping a private written journal helps to show pattern of thought.
Best wishes and welcome to Anxiety board at DS.
On zoloft for 4 weeks since my celexa stopped working 7 months ago. Tried so many different meds. Zoloft is making my panic and anxiety so much worse. Not sure to give it more time. I loved Celexa. It does not have even close to the side effects I’ve felt on these other meds I’m trying. When I was on it I was a little tired for a couple days but that was it. Worked in 2 weeks on my panic anxiety and depression. I wish I can go back on that.
