Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. Isn't DS great? I just discovered it a few months ago. I wish I had known about it a long time ago.
I am coming to terms with the fact that I struggle with anxiety. I didn't know what was wrong with me for the longest time. But a doctor visit due to heart flutters and reading here on DS as well as other websites online have helped me understand that it is anxiety I have. I can't ignore it or laugh it off anymore like I have been doing for a long time. I have to face it.
Now I'm trying to learn ways to cope with it, reduce it, live with it, control it. I've been using a rubber band on my wrist lately. I snap it when I feel the anxiety bubbling up. It hurts but it also somehow puts me back in control. I have also started exercising. That really helps a lot. I've started the Couch 2 5K (C25K) running program. I hate running, I mean I really hate running!!! lol And I'm really bad at it! But I just go at my own pace and I'm OK with very slow progress. I always feel better after I am done with one of the C25K podcasts.
Good luck to you and everyone else struggling. I'm really glad that we all found this place.
Am a bicycle enthusiast; the environment and all that. Older ppl at times are seen racing. (Throwing that in -- .sometimes a little competion makes exercize more interesting.
