Summer Solstice

In the Northern Hemisphere, the long nights of Winter Solstice get allot more Scientific research and media attention, but my senses and rhythms are equally agitated by the long days of Summer Solstice. It puts me in hyper-drive. Senior hyper-drive is not as fun as the junior hyper-drive was. To quote Leonard Cohen (Tower of Song), "I ache in the places where I used to play." Still, even when I still had the junior energy levels, I don't recall the summer anxiety spikes as being any more fun than winter spikes. 


The summer solstice is June 21st. Less than 3 weeks away. Seems to me that anxiety levels are higher across everything in nature. My dogs and chickens are trying to out-goose one another.


Thoughts? ? ?


Our community members in the Southern Hemisphere are approaching Winter Solstice. Your thoughts are welcome, as well. Pretty please?

Could it be a form of Seasonal Affective Disorder? I much prefer the Winter months in terms of light patterns. I mean - each season has its nice aspects. I live alone, so no one gooses me...but me... I guess in the Summer months we're all meant to get a 'little frisky.' I remember some greek philosopher talked
about how when Spring time came the women would get 'frisky.' It's maybe all part of the big design!

I never considered SAD. That is a result of detailed study on the winter solstice. If the research ever made it to the other solstice, I never read about it.

For sure, the two solstices affect me very differently. Where the winter solstice inspires me to hibernate, the summer solstice invites me to burn myself out and maybe burn a few innocent bystanders with me.

    I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying.  I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there.  I think that I will start writing in it again.  It's so therapeutic.
