Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
I'm starting to feel out of control. I can't even do calming breaths because I'm ocding about breathing correctly. When I go to take a deep breath in I start to question whether I'm breathing right. I'm feeling like I'm going down the anxiety hole again.
I had a good conversation with my counselor on Thursday. We spoke about how this anxiety and ocd is probably a chronic condition that I will have to learn how to live with. It's more than likely not something I will ever be cured from. I will have to learn how to manage it rather than fix it or make it go away. I was in a good mood yesterday but there were some things that threw me off. Right now, though, I'm at work and I feel like I'm spinning out of control. I want to take some deep breaths to calm myself down but even doing that is a stumbling block of ocd for me. What can I do if I can't calm myself down?

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

Years ago, I won a mirrored armoire from my job. It's in my bedroom but I rarely stand in front of it. Yesterday, I had to have a dexascan done so I had to change into a gown. There was a full length mirror in the changing room. I'm aware that I gained 5 to 7 pounds over the last year from cheating on Keto but I didn't know what it looked like. It was a reality check.
Stand in front of the mirror and blow silly kisses at your image. Make silly faces.
This will help you relax those tense muscles enough that you can feel the change for the moment.
for what it's worth
once i radically accepted and made my peace with my ocd ticks, i found that some of them made dandy channeling and/or therapy tools when used deliberately. they seem much easier to control when used with deliberate intent. more and more, i wonder if my ocd is a case of great strength used badly.
My diagnosis is GAD which includes many spectrums of anxiety. Health anxiety, social anxiety and good ole OCD which is my nemesis. I know what the constant bombardment of thoughts are like and I understand exactly what you are going thru. Anxiety is invasive. It affects us entirely, every thought, feeling, reaction, decision. Nothing escapes the influence of our anxiety. It is who and what we are because it exists in us. But deep within us still lies the person we can be without the influence of anxiety. It’s there waiting on us to deal effectively with the anxiety so we can emerge. There is no shame, no sin. It is simply the way it is right now. And I’m telling you that it can be overcome. It’s a disorder of the thought process we developed over time. We caused it to happen, through no fault of our own, we simply weren’t aware of what we were doing to ourselves. We just didn’t know any better. I don’t know of any other way to reassure you that what you are going thru right now can get better. I have only my own experience to rely on. And I am positive there are others who have successfully recovered. It can be done.
breathe in. . . "progress". . .
breathe out, . . "over perfection."
i soothe that defeated feeling of a setback by assuring myself that if i pulled the calming once, i can do it again.
I find that I am holding my breath while anxious, which is pretty common, apparently.
