Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. Alright so, this is my first time using this thing and reading other people's posts so far has soothed me in a weird way. It's nice knowing I'm not alone in all this. I have good days and bad days, the past couple days being good and today just was not at all. I struggle mostly in social settings, especially work. I overthing the sh*t out of things and feel like I'm acting weird around people and my thoughts spiral out of control and I don't know how to get out of it or stop it. I try the coping mechanisms I've learned but nothing seems to help when my anxiety gets this severe. It makes it heard to breath for hours at a time, sometimes my whole shift and today just like many days was one of those days. Just looking for some advice on what you guys do when your bad thought tend to spiral out of control and how to stop it.

It happens to a large percentage of people with ADHD, which I have. Actually, I have been watching videos about ADD/ADHD lately. I remember my Mom telling me that she watched a show on ADD and she...

Hello- I am new to the group
Those psycho coping tools are like the tools in my engineering toolbox in that it takes practice to get and stay proficient in their use. Even the tools I have already mastered will be hard to use when I am out of practice.
But even when I am in top form in the use of my psychotherapy tools, those out-of-control spirals can still knock me out of commission on occasion. I treat ^it^ like a mechanical breakdown on my finely maintained automobile. I pull over and/or head to the mechanic's bay immediately, regardless of what else is going on in my life. Ignoring the problem and forging ahead in denial will open the door to collateral damage.
But that is me, and it's okay if you didn't understand a word of that. It works for me and every case is unique. . .
Gentle support while you find what works for you, Abby. Welcome aboard.
