Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
The really wonderful thing is that you have what you need within you to feel better. I'm totally serious. And there are lots of wonderful people to offer support and suggestions, but you are the one in control - you get to decide what things you want to try to help you feel better.
Here's a very quick and easy way to get back into control when you feel scared: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IWu3rSEddZI
If it's too hard to focus the first time through you can do it as much as you need to.
Slow things down, breath and realize you can take one thing at a time.
And tell us more if you like so people who have walked the path before you can give you more ideas.
You're not alone.
We were in a very comfortable financial situation, but now we're almost ruined, basically, we're ruined. I'm very talented at several things, but crippled with anxiety, which caused me to leave my job, which in part brought about our current money problems. It's a very, very long story. As I type this I feel that if I leave my spot in bed and venture as far as the toilet something horrible is going to happen to me. I don't know what, just something really, really horrible.
Even so I'll drag myself to church. I know that if I get a panic attack there or something similar people will help me. Now the problem is: how do I make it through the rest of the day after church? That's the nature of crippling anxiety. To compound my problems my husband is away for a full week, so I'm completely on m own, something that in itself terrifies me. Oh, how unhappy I am :(
That's what's going on with me right now. What scares you? Writing about it should make you feel slightly better, that's why I'm doing it here. Besides, everybody in this forum is so wonderful!
I also got a blood test and learned I have a mutation in the MTHFR gene which sets me up to be anxious and depressed because I can't process certain vitamins very well and need more of them.
Doing the exercises in the book and starting on a special folate and B12 is helping a lot. I'm able to do things day to day that I've not been able to do for a long time and even find myself thinking of trying things that are TOTALLY out of my comfort zone.
This article explains genetic anxiety pretty well:

Vicky, my heart goes out to you. You have a fear of the unknown and in this day and age it is not imaginary. Not to be political but our representatives are destroying us and the economy - that's very real. No matter how they tweak the numbers to make things seem not as bad as they are, all we have to do is fill up our car with gas and buy some groceries and it practically bankrupts us. Yet they don't care. I've been in your situation before. I started climbing out of it when I saw the negative as a positive. Instead of dealing with my horrible employment situation (sadistic, abusive boss), I quit and felt strangely liberated. It really is true that when one door closes another one opens. I've been getting so many job offers in my field that I was able to choose something that I really love. Another friend of mine, in the same situation as we were, went on a whole different path and career. She's kicking herself for not doing it sooner. Vicky, you have to believe that things will get better because they will, but it has to take a little effort on your part. The only way out of your situation sometimes is to dig out of it. I hope that you can get back on track.
