My biology studies have me convinced that anxiety is a step more common than common. It is a hard-wired part of the survival instinct in ALL of the animal species self-aware enough to have a survival instinct. Alas, that all-natural wonder grows into an unpredictable number of other things when the survival instinct is over-stimulated and over-developed, as was the case in my personal herstory.
My own anxiety has proven quite med-resistant. Each new medication gives stellar results for a short while, but my underlying issues and habits always seem to break through, sooner or later. In my own recovery road, I took advantage of the stability offered through meds to work on those underlying issues. The meds gave me an emotional baseline to shoot for with my main therapy work. Eventually, I was able to wean off the meds entirely and manage the psycho-ticks of my over-developed survival instinct with psychotherapy tools.
since I was put on medication many years ago. Sometimes they stop working.
But the medication has improved my life a whole lot along with therapy.
