Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

secret samaritan is an ancient game which was popular back among therapy support groups in the 80's/90's. today's read from, "courage to change" is based on this old game.
--------------begin quote--------------
"just for today. . . i will do somebody a good turn and not get found out; if anybody knows of it, it will not count." what a terrific exercise! it helps me to break free of the habit of doing kind or generous things in order to get something back. only when i perform a loving act with no expectations will i reap the true reward of giving.
i am learning that giving doesn't have to take away from me or anyone else -- if there are no strings attached, everyone stands to benefit. every good and loving gesture soothes my soul and contributes to a healthier world. thes anonymous, sensitive actions are the building blocks of a flourishing spiritual well-being. my self-esteem grows because i can feel good about my actions. i am engaged in worthwhile pursuits.
today's reminder
today i will put unconditional love into action. when i give freely, without expecting anything in return, i always receive more than i give.
i was created in love. for that reason, nothing can express my beauty nor liberate me except love alone ~mechtild of magdelburg
-------------end quote--------------
in the therapy circles where i played the secret samaritan game, we figured that sharing in therapy wasn't the same as getting busted in the act of commiting our good deeds. the sharing within our anonymous healing circles helped deepen the understanding of unconditional love and generosity while helping to inspire one another with new secret deeds we can do.
anybody wanna play?

check out that smoke ring. It tasted really good. I smothered it with Maulls BBQ sauce which is Local to St. Louis and one of the best I ever had.....

I haven't written in my diary on my computer since May because I thought that my computer was dying. I got away from writing but my computer is hanging in there. I think that I will start writing in it again. It's so therapeutic.

among my personal favorite secret samaritan acts is picking up litter and making life easier for low-paid employees by putting away merchandise somebody left out of order and using carts from the parking lot rather than the store front.
'tis amazing how much better the world can be with just a few minutes of light effort.
The best for me so far, was last year sitting in a restaurant. There was 4 other tables, and I had $250 extra because I didn't spend anywhere near what I thought on the Christmas shopping. So I bought them each a $50 gift certificate to go towards their meals. I also gave the waitress a $50 tip. She asked me what she should tell them, and I just said "Merry Christmas". It was certainly a therapy for myself, as I felt so good just giving it away because I could. And I didn't feel like bragging about it either (which is a victory for a former alcoholic).
i like to perform a secret samaritan act every day. i'm comfortable but my budget won't handle daily dollar gifts and i believe little things count. moving a neighbor's trash can out of the flow of traffic benefits everybody.
