Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

When you go, one thing they rarely check, but it can cause all these things and anxiety to boot, is whether or not you have the MTHFR gene mutation and what your folate levels are. If you have this mutation, you can't properly absorb folic acid from food so the treatment is simply to give you a special sort of folate.
It's remarkable what an enormous difference it makes. It's also good for your heart health and tummy issues as well as anxiety and a whole host of other stuff.
Your doctor may not have heard of this and may feel it's unnecessary, but from my own experience it makes all the difference in the world. Not only is my anxiety gone, my homocysteine level is way down (protecting me from Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and heart disease), my IBS is gone, my arthritis is better and my headaches are clearing up.
Totally worth the test. It should run no more than $100. If they tell you it's too expensive, you can go on 23&me for the test but your doctor would still need to check folate levels.
Anxiety can cause mental anguish but also a whole host of unpleasant physical symptoms.
Let us know how it goes.
I would make sure to get up, move around once every hour, stay hydrated, and keep a list of the tasks I am working on in the desk area. I cleaned up the area of ALL clutter, kept everything simple, and within a couple of weeks, I was able to get relaxed easier in the work place.
Hope this helps. Best wishes.
They will put you on a treadmill, hooked up to all manner of apparatus, and get you to run till you drop. Or if you don't feel up to running, they give you drugs to make your heart race.
In short, they try to put you under all realistic pressure of a heart attack.
If it brings one on, you are right there with the professionals beside you. If it does not bring one on, you can live safe knowing that your heart's not going to come unstuck if you run up some stairs.
Only when you have eliminated the physical should you start wondering if it's anxiety. Especially if you've had anxiety for 10 yrs without this.
It could entirely be anxiety: but it's best to eliminate the scary stuff first.

It is still good to consult a doctor to rule out any problems.
My suspicion is anxiety. If it is indeed anxiety. There is a cure for it, but you have to be willing to do the work. It is NOT an over night cure, but since your brain is causing the anxiety (unless it is caused by an illness or medicine).....then your brain can cure it as well.
Wishing you the best.
