Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hello! First post here, I suffer from GAD and depression, and I haven't had a really bad anxiety episode in 3 years, but this past week has been absolute hell. I've tried every kind of meditation, hypnosis, grounding, and meds too that I could find\my doctor thinks will help but I'm still just so miserable. I don't even feel like fighting it anymore because I'm so exhausted mentally. I was on accutane before this and we thought that was the cause but it's out of my system and I almost feel worse. Also, usually use a little cannabis to help but this time it's making it 3646464647 times worse. Partially venting here but also seeking advice and help. Also don't know at what point I should consider an IOP.

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
And? ? ? Was your doctor right? Did this help any? It's far from a cure, but the venting helps me and it definitely helps me to know I am not alone with all this. If it helped, at least a little, it will help more and more as you learn how to use peer support as an anxiety management tool. Since anxiety is a hard-wired part of the human anatomy, we don't want a cure, but it royally sucks when anxiety starts running the show. Don't cure it. Train it.
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Keep writing, in a daily journal, to help you sort out all those words, thoughts, feelings, emotions to get a place to start and move through.
Sorry you are having a rough time.
I had to quit using any kind of marijuana completely, 25 years ago, because it would give me awful, hours long, panic attacks that wouldn't stop. Haven't touched it again since.
It *could* be the Accutane.... but I think that, as hard as it is, is to try to calm yourself and get back to a regular routine. Something about doing regular, every day stuff, is comforting.
You are currently in, what I call a "freak out" mode, trying so hard to "get back to normal." But if you slow down.... take breaths... write write write about what's bothering you, then the anxiety will have nothing to feed on and it will also start to calm down and go away. If you ignore it, it can go away quicker.
Keep busy with things. Do something physical, such as exercise, or straightening up your house, vacuum, rearrange your closet.... all these things help me to push the anxiety away.
In other words, try not to dwell on it, because that gives it more energy.
If it persists, you could look into therapy. Or taking a different medication.
Keep writing it out! We are here for you!
Have you tried apps for anxiety?? Calm.com is one of the apps that helps. Also YouTube mediation sounds and music for anxiety. Prayer always helps to calm someone down and talking to friends who understand is another avenue. Keeping active helps as a great distractor for anxiety. This site is a great place to vent and receive info from many who have suffered, and are suffering the same symptoms. Hope this helps :)
I’m in therapy but it only helps so much
