Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. Setraline is Zoloft, and Zoloft is a really good medication for most people, in helping with their anxiety and depression.
Did you see a psychiatrist for this medicine? They are medical doctors who are very knowledgeable about anxiety medications.
Zoloft will take a few weeks to settle down in your system. If you are on a low dose, say 25 mgs, then it is probably more anxiety about taking it, than the drug itself, that feels like your anxiety is worse at first.
I know it's hard, but hang in there and take it exactly as prescribed.
Have you tried any anxiety therapy with a therapist? That can be very helpful. I take anxiety medication and have weekly sessions talking with a therapist.
You are not alone!
Zoloft/sertraline is prescribed for combination effect in neutralizing both depression and anxiety.
Keep a daily journal private showing how you are feeling up/down/sideways and if you are experiencing sensations, also note those as well.
Best wishes as you find your better balance.
i'm clueless on the medication angle, but i am sure that peer support can make a world of difference in anxiety management. i hope you find plenty of that here.
welcome aboard.
Immediately make you feel better. You just have to be patient. Have you told your doctor that you are feeling even more anxious? Maybe they can give you a fast acting medication to reduce the anxiety while you wait for the zoloft to work?
Take care and keep sharing here.
As others have written, it takes time (weeks) to build-up in your bloodstream. Initially, you will probably experience side effects (dizziness) which may feel like the meds are making you feel worse.
Eventually, the side effects will go away and you will probably start feeling better.
P.S. I'm currently on 200mg/day.
