My son is 42 and has had these off on and since early teens. Seems like they are getting worse. He has been to his heart doctor, worn the monitor and also had an EKG done. We were shopping and he had them all day long. At night, he gets them and says it feels as if his heart will stop. He was taking 50 mg. of Atenolol and blood pressure and pulse was so low so doctor decreased it gradually to 12.5 mg. Seems that is when it all started like a vengeance again. He is now taking 25 mg. in the morning and 25 mg. at night. He still wakes with these PVC's and goes to bed with them. I have had the ablation surgery done myself because I had SVT's and my heart would beat uncontrollably/ I'm hoping that this condition is not hereditary. Has anyone else had these to the point of it interferring with everyday life? Any help or suggestions on how to deal with these. I will call him over and let him read your suggestions. He is single, no children and is very high strung but still seems to handle stress o.k. Any help or advice is appreciated. He does have a call back into his cardiologist. Thanks everyone

I was put on atenolol too. Just started on Monday. I found out that my heartbeat was complicated by my thyroid. Has that been checked? My pulse is always above 150 and even walking around a store it goes up to 190-210 and I get chest pains. They are going to kill my thyroid to fix things like my heart. I am sorry you two are going through this! Just keep him calm, stress can effect the heart too. Keep me posted! *good luck*

thanks so much for your support. His doctor called yesterday and is going to schedule an echo for him and I hope some blood work. Dani- I tried to get on the website you suggested and my Norton anti-virus is saying not to. Since you have visited it, is it a safe site to visit on my computer. Sometimes these virus protection plans are more trouble than being helpful. Thanks again.

I was just told on Wednesday I have PVC's. I've been having them now for 39 years. I was aware that I was having them (extra heart beats), but they seem to be getting worse. Recently, I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, so now I have a cardiologist who has ordered an MRI because of the connection between PVC'and Sarcoid. He also mentioned it's possible my heart problem is not related to Sarc. I'm praying it isn't. I will have the MRI tomorrow and will keep you posted.
