Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...
Hi All-
New to the group, hoping to find folks who've been experiencing life as I have been, in order to set my mind at ease.
For many months now, I've been experiencing a myriad of physical issues. For the sake of brevity, I'll just say that I've experienced light headedness, heart palpitations, and muscle twitching. Initial Drs visits, 5-6 months ago, came back clean. Neurologist said that I appear to be fine. PCP said blood work and other tests were normal. So, with that, all of this was chalked up to anxiety.
I've had some decent stretches since then, and some not so decent stretches. Most recently though, I've had some newer symptoms...twitching in my thumb, a light cramping sort of feeling in my hand, and a feeling of weakness at times in my arm and the opposite leg. While these limbs FEEL weak/tired, I don't appear to be lacking my usual strength. I'm able to do my day-to-day stuff with no issues, and have exercised as I normally would.
Nevertheless, these feeling of weakness in my limbs have me freaked out. I'm fearing ALS or something of the like. I experienced similar symptoms 5-6 months ago when I was originally examined, and deemed to be fine (anxiety aside), but this latest stretch of these feelings within my muscles still has me extremely worried.
Has anyone experienced similar sensations?

I did the dumbest thing today. I charged my earbuds, unplugged the block and put the block in my little bag instead of the earbuds. I wasn't happy about that when I got to the gym. What a dummy!

Ever since I stopped doing therapy because of insurance, I've been feeling that old tense and irritable sense of anxiety and stress. I hate that. I was making so many strides and changes during therapy, my therapist would acknowledge all of my progress and accomplishments, and I miss that reassurance. Today I thought about it, and I made those changes! She would always tell me that I chose to...
You've taken the important first step in writing it out.
Keep writing in a daily journal to help you sort through all your feelings, thoughts, words, and emotions.
I totally understand the fear of a real, serious illness. I've been dealing with odd sensations for a year now; mine are mainly internal vibrations which also had me thinking ALS, MS or something like that. I've also experienced what you describe as FEELING as though my leg/arm is weak with no apparent actual reduction in strength. I've also experienced some odd cramping sensation in my hands as well. Did your neurologist run tests to rule out any medical issues? I've seen many doctors and have had many, many tests including several MRI's, nerve conduction and emg testing to rule out neurological issues. All were normal. Docs are at a loss for any medical explanation...I'm still not convinced that it is 100% anxiety but it's definitely a component.
Inside my own skin, the physical manifestations of anxiety will continue to escalate into ever weirder off-shoots if I do not get proactive in alleviating them. Clenching my shoulders will eventually cause circulation problems to my fingers, etc., etc. In addition, stress/anxiety are contagious. Being around stressed out people will heighten my own anxiety.
We are in year 2 of the global shutdown. Stress and anxiety are rampant. Don't know how the story will end, but I am praying we can help one another through without imploding. Just praying. . .
