Anxiety Support Group
Anxiety is a physical condition marked by intense and persistent feelings of distress, fear, angst or dread. General anxiety caused by routine day-to-day stresses usually passes quickly and is experienced by almost everyone at one time or another. However, such feelings that linger over time and are very difficult to cope with, and which lack a clear cause, may indicate...

Hey yall! I don't usually post or check in here though it's been on my list for years. My name is Sara and I live at home with my parents. Collectively we have four dogs and two cats. I am 35 and though I work 10 hours a week I am also on disability for bipolar.
I've come here because I'm struggling to find someone who understands.
I only work weekends so I'm home the rest of the week. Mom calls me three times a day, once on her morning break, on her lunch break, and when she gets off her 12 hour shift. I need these calls because if I don't hear from her my anxiety goes up. She knows this and will let me know if she is either unable to call or running late. She gets my anxiety and she is the one person who can calm me during a panic attack. Dad on the other hand doesn't understand me or my anxiety and he doesn't even acknowledge it. He tends to get home within a reasonable time frame and I try to have dinner ready soon after. The problem is he occasionally runs late. This causes high anxiety. I've repeatedly asked him to call me or text if he is running late and he does sometimes but not usually. He says it's not a big deal but to me it is.
How can I help him to understand?

This week, I have been feeling a bit sad, a bit depressed. Since April, I've generally been doing well, so not a bad run of decent moods for about 4-5 months. The last few days, however, I've been plagued by thoughts of "what's wrong with me." What's wrong with me that I don't have a female companion now. It's been a long time since my last relationship. I don't sit on my butt waiting for...

My best friend ruined my day with her immature, bitchy self. If she doesn't get her way, she has a tizzy fit. I told her weeks ago that I couildn't go to yard sales with her on 9/12 because i have a hair appointment. She wasn't happy. I also told her that I don't have any money to go to yard sales. She tried to talk me into going to more yard sales by saying that if I don't go, there...
personally, i wouldn't frustrate myself trying to get him to understand. he is what he is and he ain't what he ain't. i would use the extra time to practice my anxiety management skills.
anxiety. Sometimes people that don't know
what anxiety feels like can't understand.
Do you have a therapist that can help you cope
with your anxiety about your father?
I'm sorry that you're struggling with this
High anxiety is miserable
I've struggled with it as well
I have to agree with the others though enabling your anxiety by partaking in these rituals seems to be more crippling IMHO
Finding coping tools could really help you to thrive and hopefully work past some of the harmful rituals that are keeping you in high stress place
Another hug and a blessing sent...xo
